Answer These Questions.

  1. What had happened the previous evening when Nabinchand was returning home?

Last evening when Nabinchand was returning from Jyotilal’s house, some criminals attacked him. They smacked him on his head and sprayed water on his brand-new fancy hat. They also ordered him to stand still at the spot and threatened that if he moved, they would blow his head off.

  • 2. ‘After telling everyone at school the story, things looked up for him.’ In what ways do you think things ‘looked up’ for him?

Unfortunately for Nabinchand, no one at his home seemed to believe his story that dacoits had attacked him. So he kept the story to himself without trying to argue with his elders. But in school everyone listened to his story very seriously, trusting everything he said without judgment. And that’s how things looked up for him.

  • 3. ‘We thought, this is the end.’ Did it end then? What happened after this?

No, it did not end then. The next day Nabinchand brought his elder brother Mohanchand, a senior in the final year of school, to settle scores with Keshta, Dashu, and others.

  • 4 How did Dashu manage to convince the other boys to be a part of his plan? Did he keep his promise?

Dashu promised to treat the boys with a big plate of jalebis from a local sweet shop if they become part of his plan.

No, he did not keep his promise. When the boys went to ask for their promised treat, Dashu told them to get their own Jalebis with their money.
